Good day, ladies and gentlemen. Today, I’d like to share with you some thoughts that I had when I was pondering how to establish deeper connections with the people I was engaged with in my business endeavors. It was a significant moment that took place during a meeting with the CEO of a prominent hospital in a conference room filled with key figures from various insurance-based agencies. The atmosphere was rather frosty, and a sense of detachment seemed to prevail.
As I observed this assembly of individuals with seemingly impenetrable facades, I couldn’t help but wonder if there was a way to bridge the gap without them even realizing that I was subtly communicating my thoughts and feelings. In that moment, a childhood memory resurfaced – the story of Harry. When you’re in a room, gazing out of the window, it’s not the window that observes the world; it’s you. The energy within the room looks out through your eyes, just as our body serves as the room and the Holy Spirit within us, the energy. Our eyes, then, are the windows through which we view the world beyond our physical selves.
In those challenging meetings, I contemplated a simple yet profound idea. I decided to offer a prayer that would connect my Holy Spirit with the Holy Spirit of those present in the room. The stage was set. The meeting began with twelve individuals, each bearing formidable expressions. Still, I remained undaunted. I locked eyes with each person and, within my own thoughts, I commenced my prayer, saying, “God, grant me the wisdom and knowledge required to be responsive, open, honest, and articulate the mission and vision of this organization. May my Holy Spirit connect with theirs to facilitate the opening of their minds and opportunities. Lord, I am grateful for the wisdom and knowledge you bestow upon me, and I eagerly await your response to this request made in the silence of my own mind. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
And I did it. It never once failed. Shortly after these meetings, someone would approach me and remark, “You know, I hadn’t intended to do this, but thank you for being here, Lawrence. I’m eager to collaborate with you and explore new opportunities for both you and the hospital.” I would always smile, recognizing that this was God’s confirmation that my spirit had connected with theirs. Together, we worked in harmony, according to a higher will, and not our own.
In conclusion, let me say that this approach, born out of faith and intention, has had a profound impact on my business interactions. It has not only led to successful collaborations but has also fostered a sense of unity and goodwill among all parties involved. May this personal experience serve as a testament to the power of genuine connection, a force that can transcend even the most challenging circumstances. Thank you for your attention, and may the spirit of unity and cooperation continue to guide our endeavors.
